Last weekend we went out with Andrea, Derek, and Briar to Inglewood to do their engagement session. Much like Jen and Frank, Andrea and Derek are getting married out in the mountains next year so they wanted something a little different for their engagement pictures. Inglewood is such a great little place for taking pictures with lots of variety for backgrounds, which we took full advantage of! Where else can you find an old fort, metal bridges, barns, and textured walls all within a kilometer of each other?!? Andrea and Derek were great to work with and more than willing to go into some different places to get some shots. They also like to clown around a little so I think their wedding in March is going to be a blast!

We had the chance this past Sunday afternoon to wander around downtown Calgary with Jen and Frank for their e-session. They wanted to do the ‘urban thing’ because they are getting married out in Kananaskis in February. We agreed to meet at a parkade, and the original plan was to take a few shots and then start exploring the downtown core a bit. Well… we never actually got further than a block from the parkade! When we got up on the roof, there was the most amazing late afternoon light streaming through, and Duane and I got really giddy. We immediately asked them to jump on a ledge that had a five story drop behind them. In retrospect this might have been a bit of an extreme way to introduce them to our photography, but one has to seize the light when it is available! They were so relaxed and obviously enjoyed one another – and it translated directly into the pictures. Thanks guys – we’re really looking forward to your wedding!

We originally met Steve and Alison back at Lowell and Julie’s wedding back in July and last weekend they tied the knot. What a fantastic day and a fantastic couple. One of the things that Kevan and I both love about being wedding photographers is having the opportunity to share in one of the most important days in people’s lives and this was no exception. The wedding started out in Carstairs and ended up in Bearspaw for the reception. A special thanks goes out to them and the rest of the wedding party for enduring the cold for us for a few shots out at the farm and then trusting us when we decided to do some shots in the men’s locker room at the country club!
