In case you haven’t guessed it already, we had a pretty busy weekend!

We met up with Shawna and Nate at the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary to do their engagement pictures. We were introduced to these guys through Chris & Todd who got married last summer, Nathan was their emcee. We knew what we were getting into and he’s a bit of a joker…and Shawna takes it in stride!

There’s a beautiful heritage home within the bird sanctuary grounds that Duane & Karyn had their wedding pictures taken that we started with. Old homes had character that you just don’t find these days and they make for great settings for pictures!

Shawna told us that Nate always looks good in pictures…even when he’s not trying. We tend to agree…

…but in comparison he hasn’t got anything on Shawna!

In case you haven’t noticed, Shawna has really beautiful, intense eyes.

Nate works for the railroad so we had to incorporate that into their engagement session. Lucky for us CP rail left a few train cars sitting right next to the bird sanctuary!

Steve Larsen has appeared on this blog more than a few times. Back in July he was a secret surprise performer at Lowell and Julie’s wedding. In November he and his fiance, Alison, were married on a brisk, but picture-perfect day. Today’s installment brings you Steve Larsen, the rock star. Steve asked us to come along to shoot some promotional material for his album that he will be releasing later this summer and we were more than happy to go wander downtown Calgary with him for a few hours yesterday evening.The light was fantastic!

I think we lucked out with the weather today! For the past week or so it’s been cold, snowy, and all around miserable here in Calgary. Today, however, it was about +10 with a nice warm sun for our engagement shoot with Sonja and Glenn. They’re getting married out at the Glen Eagles Golf and Country Club in Cochrane this summer.

Having their pictures taken came pretty naturally and they managed to pretend like we weren’t even there a lot of the time.

One of the first things I noticed when we met up with Glenn were his sweet shoes!

They were pretty excited to get off the beaten track and try some different areas.

Sunday afternoon we took a trip to the Rundle Ruins in Calgary to do an engagement session for Dana and Juliano.  We were both really sore from our Paintball Adventure on Saturday but everything else was in our favour; cool location, great couple, and fantastic weather.

Dana and Juliano made it pretty clear to us that they were going to need lots of direction because they’re not very photogenic…

You could have fooled me!  We managed to bring the goofy side out of them after a while.

Juliano is from Brazil so they brought along their team jerseys.  We managed make complete fools of ourselves by trying to talk soccer with him. I think there is a reason that Canada is ranked 104th in the World Soccer Rankings.

We learned that Dana has a great power-pose…

…and Juliano pulls the GQ thing off pretty well too!

So… what do you think happens when a group of people rent paintball gear for the weekend and end up with a whole bunch of extra ammo after running around the coulees for a couple of hours?

Step 1: Set up targets. Shoot until bored.

Step 2: Set up different targets that maybe  wouldn’t normally be considered targets. Shoot until bored.

Step 3. Shoot each other. Two things of note here. #1 – It was Megan and Leah’s idea to run the gauntlet – and they totally went first. (Megan hiding behind the barrel) and in second half it is me (Kevan) who so gracefully falls on my face.
