Saturday wrapped up eight photo sessions in ten days for Kevan and I with Avery & Zak’s wedding. I often reflect on my own wedding and think about some of the things I would have loved to incorporate into my own if I were to do it over again. I think I would almost carbon-copy their wedding, from the group breakfast together with their families to the laid-back morning of getting ready and doing some portraits prior to the ceremony to the location out of the city, everything was just fantastic!
They were married out at the Strawberry Creek Lodge west of Edmonton and their day had a very relaxed, intimate feel to it. Everything about the day was simple and elegant.

Their formal wear was a little less traditional than most of the weddings we’ve done so far.

I think Zak’s hat tied it all together!

We had a little time prior to the ceremony to steal them for a few quick formals. The lodge was poised at the top of a bluff overlooking Strawberry Creek.

The ceremony took place out on the deck overlooking the forest and creek below.

We did the formals out on another property that was a photographer’s dream! Old cars…

…wide open valleys with dramatic skies…

…and awesome old barns!

There were so many great spots to take pictures around there! We could have stayed out all day!

There were lots of laughs and tears during the reception.

They had a live jazz band play as well and at one point Zak took the stage and played a number with them on the piano.

Thanks for a great day guys!
