Last Thursday Duane and I decided to take advantage of one of the few remaining days to get some biking in and chose a 54 km trip to the end of Lake Minnewanka and back. Freaking. Tired. It has been a long time since I’ve been that gassed. By the end I could barely stand up. I guess I’ve got some work to do before next summer… Funniest moment of the day came when Duane and I were bombing through a little downhill section. He was in the lead and I may or may not have been following a bit close behind. When his tire slipped off the track and locked his bike up I didn’t have nearly enough time to stop. The next thing I know I am going over the handlebars (seems to be a bit too common for me lately). I have this distinct memory burned into my brain of being in the air and looking down on Duane trying to figure out where I was going to land. I ‘chose’ the middle of his back as it seemed a lot softer than either his bike or the ground.
