This past Sunday we had the great pleasure of having our former clients (some of the first actually!) and good friends, Steve and Alison come down to visit us here in Fernie. Steve, as you have probably realised from my many past blog posts about him, is an absolutely amazing musician. Right now he and another talented musician Keith Kitchen are touring around Western Canada to promote their new albums. If you haven’t had a chance to check out his work, I definitely recommend swinging by his website: www.stevelarsenmusic.com.
Here are a couple of shots that we grabbed of Steve and Keith from Sunday night’s concert! Keith was up first:
Pure Emotions PhotogThat 4th shot is great! I love the lighting and the mood you've captured here. It's difficult to capture really good concert-esque photos and you've done a brilliant job there!
Our second engagement session of the day on Friday was with Tiffany and Ian. When we first met with them they were in high gear with planning their wedding, only thing is they weren’t quite engaged yet! Not to worry though, that was taken care of this winter! Tiffany’s been running a blog all about wedding planning, both what she’s doing with their wedding plans and some different sites and ideas that have inspired her. It’s pretty neat to be able to follow it and see how their planning is panning out. If you’re interested in checking it out for a few ideas of your own you can find it at www.brideonpurpose.blogspot.com.
It was awesome to hang out with them for a couple hours on Friday night in the warm light exploring downtown Calgary. We’re definitely looking forward to their wedding here in Fernie this September!
I love how this next one turned out.
Tiffany and Ian weren’t afraid to show their goofy sides!
I like shooting in the winter but nothing compares to the warm light you get in the evenings the rest of the year!
Pretty hard to sum up how fun yesterday was for us – we were in Calgary for two engagement sessions. We took the opportunity to do the ‘downtown’ thing with both couples and it was great to explore some of the alleys with them.
For the sake of being arbitrary we’ll start with Aleefa and Ellis. I knew that this was going to be a great session, when Aleefa walked up to greet us and immediately gave us some home-made samosas! Feeding the photographers is always a great idea folks!
Introducing our good-looking contestants. First up is Ellis…
Next is Aleefa…
Funny moment. They brought along a second change of clothes, but someone *cough* Aleefa *cough* forgot the cuff links for Ellis’s shirt. Not to worry though, they just made some new ones… out of bobbi-pins! Needless to say, they had to be adjusted once or twice along the way.
The kind folks at Metrovino (www.metrovino.com) let us pop inside their store for a couple of shots. I definitely think I’ll check this place out in the future!
When we first met with Robin and Terry, they made it very clear to us that they wanted a laid-back, stress-free day for themselves and their guests. Mission accomplished! Those of you who have planned weddings before know how much work goes into the preparation, so although most people want this type of day not everyone always achieves it. Which might be understating things a bit. I knew that things were looking in their favour though when Robin sent us the itinerary in colour-coded, spreadsheet format – every detail had been thought out and taken care of, leaving them free to enjoy the day and each other.
She was a quick learner!
If these guys ever decide to make a band, I venture that this should be the album cover!
The beautiful Knox United Church.
A quiet moment during the ceremony…
We didn’t have a tonne of time between the ceremony and the reception, but there were definitely a few in there that caught my eye!
I’ve looked at this picture quite a bit and still haven’t decided if this anatomically possible…
