I am excited to announce that…. It’s Back! Those of you who have followed us for a few years now, know that at the end of every year, we do a little contest. We go through the thousands of shots that we have taken in 2010, and choose our 15 favourite images. We then turn it over to our blog readers to choose the very best photo from that group of 15! The couple in the winning image will receive a free canvas print of their favourite wedding image!
We’re also changing things up a little bit to give something to the people who stop by to vote and comment! That’s you! We will take one comment of support for the winning image (at random) and give that person a free photo session of their choice! So, not only will one lucky couple win a free canvas, but one lucky commenter will also win a free photo session!
The Rules:
1. One vote per person please. The counting software will only allow one vote per ip address, but there are ways around that. In the spirit of the contest though, we would ask that you refrain from voting multiple times. You wouldn’t want us to have to unleash our crazy ninja assassins on you anyway.
2. Voting will close at midnight on December 31st.
3. To be eligible for the free photo session you must leave a comment here on the blog.
That’s it! Good luck to everyone!
This year’s entries are:
1. Tammy and John – This photo was created on a beautiful October day in Regina. It was also created with my pants rolled up above my knees in two feet of goose crap. I think it was worth it though!

2. Leanne and Pewh. Sometimes the best shots are the lucky ones. This wasn’t a planned shot, but we noticed the wind catching Leanne’s veil, and happened to have a camera set with a rough exposure for it and it managed to grab focus right away.

3. Cristal and Brad – Weddings in the mountains right? After a early-season snow storm blew through and confined us all to Eagle’s Eye Chalet up at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort we thought our outdoor portrait session was finished. However, just as the sun was setting it cleared up for about two-and-a-half minutes. We all ran outside as fast as we could to grab a few shots in the gorgeous light.

4. Kathryn and Eric – Just a simple bridal portrait of Kathryn that has beauty and confidence written all over it.

5. Kyla and Steve. Another lucky frame. At this exact second everyone in the room was listening to the ‘t-wanng!’ of the top clasp of her dress shoot across the room. (It really did make that noise). Fortunately, Kyla took it in stride, and her bridesmaids were pros. Incredibly, they found the clasp and were able to sew it back on, and we were only five minutes behind schedule.

6. Kelsey and Kevin. How many brides can say that they went canoeing on their wedding day. How many can say that they did it before the ceremony? That pretty much tells you everything that you need to know about Kelsey and Kevin right there.

7. Jody (of Jody and Neil). Okay – two things about this image. #1 – I can’t believe that I forgot to blog this session back in the fall! Stay tuned in January for the full session! and #2 – No bride on earth has worked as hard for her trash-the-dress pictures as Jody did on October 1st of this year. She hiked for 12 hours and gained almost 3,500 feet of elevation to do her images in a pitch-black cave near the top of a mountain. She (and her mom) were amazing sports about it, and we were able to create some awesome images from the session.

8. Sharla and Aaron. A nice moment between two of the nicest people that you could ever hope to meet.

9. Shannon and Kevin. When I think about a destination wedding, this image captures the feeling of it to me. A little wind-tussled, but absolutely focused on each other beside the ocean. The were willing to trust us, and follow us to the rocky outcropping beside the sandy beach where most people go I am sure.

10. Holly and Joe. Holly was totally dialed in on Joe during their outdoor ceremony here in Fernie. I love her expression in this image.

11. Joni and Jason. Needless to say, the morning hadn’t gone as planned for Joni, who had always wanted to get married outside, on her parent’s farm. I am also confident that she could have done without the lengthy power outage, that caused her to do her makeup in the dark. But, as she walked outside to meet her groom, I think you get the sense that she wasn’t letting any of those details weigh her down.

12. Joni and Jason. The only repeat couple in this year’s contest. This one is all landscape and ties together light, backdrop and a beautiful couple. We debated long and hard about which image of the two to keep, and in the end neither of us could be dissuaded so both stayed!

13. Jaryn and Steve. We love reflection shots, and this is one of our favourites that we have ever created. I am not quite sure how the physics in the courtyard were working to create this image, but I am glad that they were!

14. Kathryn and Jesse. All of our clients know that we are big geeks at heart, so you can imagine how happy we were to be able to pull of this image. I won’t ruin the magic of the shot, but needless to say there are quite a few lights used to get it looking just so. I love the look between Kat and Jesse, and the colour of the RCMP Serge really makes the image pop!

15. Tina and Greg. Tina is a person that has a great love of life and laughter. That really came through in spades throughout her wedding day. This shot of her hamming it up during the flower toss really captures her fun-loving personality!
