Saturday was a classic day in the mountains with Leanne and Pewh and a great way to kick off the summer wedding season. Pewh is from New Zealand, and let me tell you – the Kiwi’s know how to have a good time! We spent much of the afternoon photo session dodging sporadic rain showers – but still managed to find good light.
We were pretty impressed when Leanne agreed to sit on the railway ties for these shots! I am told that this was the intimidation dance that they use before rugby…
This is one of those ‘accidental’ shots that happened to work pretty well. Duane and Leanne were up in the stairwell trying to grab a shot of the veil being grabbed by the wind. I happened to look up as it was floating around and grab this one frame.
The ‘hardman’. I didn’t ask too many questions, but apparently he has made appearances at every major life event for Pewh. He has even been buried under the pitch while the All Blacks Rugby team thundered over head! Kind of the equivalent of the Canadian loonie under the ice at the Salt Lake Winter Olympics I guess…
Watching and listening to a speech that a family member from New Zealand had recorded for them…
I’m so glad that spring has finally arrived here in Fernie! I love shooting around this time of year when the leaves are fresh on the trees when there are so many different shades of green and the light in the early evening seems to make everything pop. On Friday night Micaela and Jeremy braved the long-weekend traffic to come to Fernie for their engagement session and we had a great time hanging out with them for a few hours getting to know them and grabbing some pictures along the way! Thanks for a great evening guys and especially to Micaela who braved the freezing temperatures at the end as the sun set!
