And just like that the curtains are being drawn on another year. I am pleased to be able to share Alyssa and Craig’s Banff wedding with you today, but first I want to take a moment to reflect with gratitude, on what has been in the past year; and cast an eye towards next year. I am just a little incredulous that it has been 6 years since both Duane and I quit our full-time positions to make a go of this business. It has been a crazy ride, and I cannot wait to see what the future brings. 2012 was good to each of us and our families as we both welcomed new family members. Duane and Karyn had a little girl name Arianna, and Leah, Peta and I welcomed little Emily about five weeks ago now. 2012 also brought us fantastic clients, many of whom we now call friends.
We are very excited about 2013 and what it will bring. Our calendar is quickly filling up and we have some incredible people to work with and venues to shoot at already. We are also in the process of opening a new studio space here in Fernie (we have been up to our eyeballs in drywall dust for that last few weeks). As part of that we will also be launching a new portrait line, so keep your eyes peeled about an announcement for that sometime later this month.
I can’t think of a better way to wrap the year then to share the last wedding of the year that we shot (although we still have one to share). I am sure that Alyssa and Craig were hoping for slightly warmer than the -20 something that they got, but the crisp air created some beautiful light for portraits. I live in a beautiful town, but I have to admit that Banff is pretty idyllic, especially after some fresh snow has fallen. It was a perfect setting for a Rocky Mountain destination wedding, and the choice to host at Buffalo Mountain Lodge was a great one. Happy new year everyone – stay safe out there!
